Duties/Pligte

• Installing, daily maintenance and monitoring of Linux computer systems and servers.

• Benchmarking and testing Artificial Intelligence-based applications for scholarly communication and research support systems.

• Setting the standards for the implementation, administration, improvement, maintenance and documentation of Linux application services in the library in collaboration with the campus Linux

support community.

• 
  Designing, implementing, testing and documenting new Linux-based computer systems and overseeing their integration with other campus technologies in support of the business processes of

Stellenbosch University.

• 
  Advising and assisting the Director: Information Technology Services on server and storage infrastructure management.

• 
  Installasie, daaglikse instandhouding en monitering van Linux rekenaarstelsels en bedieners.

• Die maatstaf en toets van Kunsmatige Intelligensie-gesteunde toepassings vir vakkundige kommunikasie en navorsingsondersteuningstelsels.

• Stel die standaarde vir die implementering, administrasie, verbetering, instandhouding en dokumentasie van Linux-toepassingsdienste in die biblioteek in samewerking met die kampus

Linux-ondersteuningsgemeenskap.

• 
  Ontwerp, implementeer, toets en dokumenteer nuwe Linux-gebaseerde rekenaarstelsels en hou toesig oor die integrasie daarvan met ander kampustegnologieë ter ondersteuning van die

besigheidsprosesse van die Universiteit Stellenbosch.

• 
  Adviseer en help die Direkteur: Inligtingstegnologiedienste met bediener- en stoorspasie infrastruktuurbestuur.

Job Requirements/Pos Vereistes

• National senior certificate with eight years' relevant experience,

OR an information technology or computer Science B-degree/national diploma with three years' relevant experience, OR a relevant IT certificate with six years¿ relevant experience.

• 
  Proven experience in the systems administration of Linux systems.

• Working level knowledge of R, Python or related data science tools.

• Detailed knowledge of cybersecurity practices to protect systems from digital attacks.

• Demonstrated ability to solve problems innovatively.

• Demonstrated ability to work in a team (within a Linux community of practice), as well as independently.

• Sound verbal and written communication skills.

Candidates may be subjected to aptitude, psychometric and proficiency tests.

• 
  Nasionale senior sertifikaat met agt jaar toepaslike ervaring,

OF 'n inligtingstegnologie of rekenaarwetenskap B-graad/nasionale diploma met drie jaar toepaslike ervaring, OF `n toepaslike IT sertifikaat met ses jaar toepaslike ervaring.

• 
  Bewese ervaring in die stelseladministrasie van Linux-stelsels.

• Werksvlakkennis van R, Python of verwante datawetenskaphulpmiddels.

• Gedetailleerde kennis van kubersekuriteitspraktyke om stelsels teen digitale aanvalle te beskerm.

• Gedemonstreerde vermoë om probleme innoverend op te los.

• Gedemonstreerde vermoë om in 'n span te werk (binne 'n Linux gemeenskap van praktyk), sowel as onafhanklik.

• Goeie mondelinge en skriftelike kommunikasievaardighede.

Kandidate kan aan aanleg, psigometriese en vaardigheidstoetse onderwerp word.

Recommendation/Aanbeveling

• Experience in creating and debugging Linux scripts.

• 
  Ervaring met die ontwikkeling en ontfouing van Linux "scripts".
