We are looking for a well-seasoned Senior Fleet Controller to manage and maintain the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems in order to optimise the overall Logistics' operations and create efficiencies. The role also performs Fleet Controller responsibilities by scheduling and coordinating vehicle loads, monitors and tracks all vehicles and driver-behaviour in order to contribute to the overall operational efficiencies and service delivery to clients.

Minimum Requirements

  • Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Transport / Fleet Management

  • 4 years' experience in fleet administration / logistics / transport management

Job Description

Operational Analysis and Effectiveness

  • Monitors, manages and maintains the ERP in order to accurately track the utilisation of trucks.

  • Monitors the accuracy of real-time data captured on the ERP systems.

  • Collects and analyses data related to productivity levels and efficiencies across the Logistics Division operational environments.

  • Develops informative and actionable reporting which highlights relevant business trends and opportunities for improvement.

  • Evaluates current processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies / bottlenecks and recommends solutions to streamline operations and enhance productivity levels.

  • Monitors the effectiveness of new / recommended processes on an ongoing basis.

  • Identifies opportunities for continuous improvements resulting in the streamlining of processes, improved efficiencies and enhanced business performance.

  • Maintains records and documentation for compliance and audit purposes

Control Room Operations

  • Checks, schedules and captures daily loads and trip information for drivers.

  • Updates schedules based on changes and new requests on a continuous basis.

  • Monitors driver performance and behaviour and identifies and escalates issues to the Operations Manager: Logistics.

  • Monitors and confirms that loads are delivered according to standard operating procedures (SOP's), service level agreements (SLA's) and customer requirements.

  • Monitors and makes recommendations for profitable route-planning.

  • Verifies that all relevant paperwork is completed and correctly loaded onto the system.

  • Communicates continuously with the drivers and clients to provide and receive updates.

Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting

  • Collaborates closely with internal stakeholders to improve the systems' functionalities and intergration with fleet management software.

  • Collaborates with cross functional teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Detects and reports / communicates risk proactively, across all areas of Afrirent Logistics' Operations.

  • Monitors and reports on the overall system performance, truck routes, truck performance and system data.

  • Monitors and reports on route deviations and logical issues which can impact on fleet performance and operational costs.

  • Compiles and submits reports on stolen / hijacked vehicles, accidents, ad-hoc incidents and driver behaviour.

  • Calculates and prepares all cost estimates for ad hoc client work.
