Job Purpose

The Department of the Premier, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for two (2) competent individuals to implement operational procedures, processes and ensure operational productivity, as well as to ensure effective and efficient administration to appoint and compensate employees.

Minimum Requirements

Grade 12 (Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification).

Recommendation

Working knowledge/Exposure of the following: Appointments and Compensation or similar environment; Circulars pertaining to human resources management; PERSAL or similar system.

Key Performance Areas

Administer appointments and payroll matters which include the following: Appointments of OSD and non-OSD personnel including Interns/Apprenticeships and periodical appointments; Issuing of employment contracts and appointment letters; Proper record keeping of records; Acting allowances; Administer Personnel Suitability Checks; Administer electronic databases on appointments information.

Competencies

Good understanding of the following: National and Provincial instruments and legislation pertaining to human resources management with specific reference to the Public Service Amendment Act, Public Service Regulations and Labour Relations Act; Ability to capture data.

Skills needed: Proven computer literacy (MS Office); Written and verbal communication; Good planning and organising skills; Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Remuneration

R 228 321 - R 268 950 per annum (Salary Level 5)

Note on remuneration in addition service benefits or obligations for qualifying employees (medical assistance, housing assistance, pension-fund contributions, etc) are funded or co-funded in terms of the applicable prescripts or collective agreements.

Notes

Shortlisted candidates will be required to submit documentation for verification purposes and criminal record vetting. These candidates will be required to do a practical and attend interviews on a date and time determined by the department and may also be required to undergo competency assessments/proficiency tests. The selection process will be guided by the EE targets of the employing department.
