Job Requirements & Qualifications
We are looking for a part-time Financial Controller, who can perform straightforward tasks within the Westrocon finance department. The Financial Controller will have to undertake all aspects of financial management which includes presenting reporting, identifying potential risk areas to be communicated to senior management and establish and maintain internal controls to support the financial infrastructure, and safeguard company assets.
The candidate will need to oversee accounting, financial reporting, analysis and preparation of the consolidated financial statements in terms of the IFRS, including schedules for tax compliance and ensure policies and procedures are in compliance with professional standards
and legal regulatory requirements. Key responsibilities will also include Managing and mentoring finance team staff, including training, performance management, and supporting budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning activities.
As a minimum, other requirements include;
Education:
Matric / Senior Certificate
Tertiary Diploma / Degree in Accounting or relevant field
At least 3 years' experience in a similar role
Experience using an Accounting Package; SAP or Pastel will be advantageous
MS Excel experience
Other Skills:
Organisational – High: Methodical, compliant, structured approach, task orientated
Interpersonal – High: Professional communicator with clients, consultants, vendors, other parties and management; a friendly but firm individual
Mathematical Skills – Excellent
Reliability, discretion and confidentiality – Very High
Responsibilities
The Financial Controller will be responsible for a wide range of critical tasks aimed at driving the growth of Westrocon's finance department.
Which means key responsibilities observed will be:
Monthly Management Accounts and Reports – including
monthly provisions, accruals, variance analysis etc.
Revenue Recognition and IFRS Compliance
Creditors Management, reconciliation and processing
Cash book Management, reconciliation and processing
in Bank Accounting and SAP / Pastel – including daily
cash flow
Statutory returns
Oversee Debtors and Customer Invoicing
Fixed Asset Maintenance
Maintain controls for service-based revenue streams
Strategic Input and Commercial Support
Process improvement and automation
Daily data backups
Awareness and adherence to Company policies and
procedures
Manage, develop and lead employees in work team
Manual preparation of daily cash flows
