Job Summary

We are hiring on behalf of our client, a prominent player in the telecommunications industry, for the position of Site Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading teams on telecom and civil site installations, performing technical installations at elevated heights, and ensuring strict adherence to safety and quality standards. This is a leadership role ideal for experienced professionals in telecom infrastructure and tower work.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead teams of riggers for telecom and civil activities on-site

• Climb towers and ladders to safely carry out technical work at height

• Erect telecommunication tower components using rigging tools (cables, ropes, pulleys, etc.)

• Install antennas, microwave dishes, structural steel, cable trays, conduits, antenna mounts, and related infrastructure

• Remove, install, and repair aerial transmission and distribution equipment

• Work with and repair a variety of telecom cables (fiber optic, coaxial, DC power)

• Perform technical audits, routine and emergency maintenance, and service restorations

• Follow detailed work orders, technical drawings, and installation plans

• Utilize winches and capstans to move and install equipment as required

• Apply and enforce health and safety protocols at all times

• Adhere strictly to quality standards and client-specific requirements (e.g., Ericsson protocols)

• Support and coordinate closely with the team leader

• Perform other duties as assigned

Basic Requirements

• Completion of the client’s tower safety training program (or willingness to complete)

• Availability to work non-standard hours including nights and weekends as needed

• Strong leadership and team coordination skills

• Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written)

• Ability to perform well under pressure and in challenging environments

• Knowledge of Ethernet standards, power systems, cable testing, and telecom networks

• Proven ability to follow safety and quality procedures

• Physically fit and capable of working outdoors in all weather conditions

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in telecommunication site work

• Previous experience leading teams on-site (required)

• Certification in Working at Heights or Fall Arrest (preferred)

• Valid driver’s license (preferred)

Pay: R25 000,00 - R26 000,00 per month
