PURPOSE

This position exists to ensure safe and effective construction of several concrete structures in a construction environment.



RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with materials and equipment in a cost-effective way, as per standard operating procedures and practice notes as directed by line manager.

  • Assist QS with onsite measurement and recordings as required.

  • Responsible for operational execution of work assigned to them, through delivery of their own tasks and duties, as well as supervision of the work for the team on shift.

  • Comply with all reporting and information requirements, as set by the Site Agent.

  • Check drawings and quantities and ensure that the calculations are accurate for the work.

  • Supply information to assist Site Agent with client liaison.

  • Liaise with Team Leaders / Operators by having discussions with them on site about performance, methods, progress, and quality.

  • Execute all duties in strict compliance to SHEQ policies, procedures and legislation, to ensure the company's responsibility is met.

  • Record actual progress against programme, for their work area and team.

  • Report to Site Agent / Project manager on work progress.

  • Ensure all paperwork and posters are displayed on the site office wall and kept up to date.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • National senior certificate/ Grade 12 (Matric).

  • Supervisor training certificate will be advantageous.



EXPERIENCE

  • At least 5 years experience working in a construction environment.

  • Technical Drawings.

  • Knowledge of construction materials and equipment.

  • Planning and reporting.

SKILLS, QUALITIES AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • Attention to detail.

  • Outcome and deadline driven.

  • Reliable and honest.

  • Functional and technical skills.

  • Effective planning and organising.



GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Solid understanding of the construction Industry.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the national legislation, standards and bylaws applicable to Construction business.
