A Day in the Life
Embarking on a career as a Commercial Underwriter means embracing a role centred on precision and thoughtful risk assessment. As a Commercial Underwriter, you will evaluate potential risks and determine appropriate policy terms, balancing opportunity, and caution. Your responsibilities will include issuing policies, processing renewals, handling endorsements, and responding promptly to client and insurer queries. You will ensure systems are kept up to date and ensure all underwriting processes comply with industry regulations.
At the heart of your role is delivering excellent service that empowers clients and strengthen stakeholder relationships. Beyond the day-to-day, you are growing your knowledge, keeping up with industry best practices, and actively managing your own development through regular reviews and Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
Requirements:
5 + Years in a commercial underwriter role
Experience in working with various insurers and commercial products
Experience within a short-term insurance brokerage preferred
Analytical Skills and Commercial Underwriting expertise
Experience across general commercial policies such as SME, Property, Multimark Policies and the like
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work well in a team and independently
Qualifications:
Meets all Fit & Proper requirements as per the FSCA (i.e. no longer under supervision)
RE5, Class of Business, Insurance related qualification
